BUFFALO GROVE, ILL. – April 6, 2009 – Recognizing Convia, Inc./A Herman Miller Company for the company’s commitment to the development of energy management strategies and energy efficient solutions, Frost & Sullivan named Convia as the recipient of its 2009 Industry Innovation and Advancement of the Year Award in the North American building automation systems (BAS) markets. The award is testament to the success of the company’s signature product, Convia Sustainable Infrastructure, a smart building platform that allows for the creation of more flexible, sustainable spaces. Frost & Sullivan will present the award at the Excellence in Industrial Technologies Banquet on April 8th in San Antonio.

“Earning such a prestigious award only two years after our company’s inception is proof of the exceptional work produced by our entire team here at Convia,” said Randy Storch, president of Convia. “Providing innovative, energy savings solutions for today’s building industry has, and always will be, at the heart of our business – and we will continue to raise the bar to deliver forward-thinking products that address the ever-changing needs of the built environment.”

The Frost & Sullivan Industry Innovation & Advancement of the Year Award is presented to a company that is proven to be a leader in its industry, and that – through its pioneering technology, sound business strategy and research efforts – is successful in moving the state of the industry forward. Frost & Sullivan analysts use quantified market factors; interviews with market participants, customers and suppliers; and extensive secondary and technology research to determine the annual award recipient.

“Convia is making a mark on the BAS industry as a pioneer in providing agile and modular building platforms,” said Jorge Moreno, research analyst at Frost & Sullivan. “The company’s ability to deliver a new electrical infrastructure that is not only flexible and adaptable, but can also serve as the integrated center for lighting, energy and control systems, will be incredibly valuable as the building industry inevitably moves toward more intelligent and green buildings.”

Since launching Convia Sustainable Infrastructure in 2006, the Company has continued to evolve the product with advanced features and applications, resulting in a significant contribution to the BAS market.

“The fact that the U.S. Green Building Council announced it is integrating Convia Sustainable Infrastructure within its new headquarters in Washington, D.C. is proof that the product is well-received by the nation’s leading authority on environmentally responsible buildings,” added Moreno.

In November 2008, the USGBC announced it would be integrating Convia’s signature product into its new 75,000-square-foot-space to help it meet and exceed its ongoing energy management goals. The building, which is slated for completion later this month, is expected to achieve LEED’s® highest rating of Platinum. [1]
